Wine of the Month – L’Equilibriste Bordeaux Rouge
At Bacchus Wines PLDC, we are a boutique wine merchant specialising in wine for the hospitality industry. Our small but perfectly curated wine collection is hand-picked from well-established vintners in France.
One of our flagship vineyards is Château de Parenchère. The state dates back to 1570 and has a long and well-established history in viticulture. It is located on the eastern edge of the Bordeaux wine-growing area, on the borders of the Dordogne and the Lot et Garonne departments. The Gazaniol family took on the estate in 1958, enlarging the estate from 90 to 153 hectares and replanting almost the entire vineyard. The soils are clay-limestone with a very high clay content, which goes some way to account for the strength of the wines produced at Parenchère. The Château has adopted a ‘Sustainable Agriculture’ policy for quality and respect for the environment. The estate is today certified High Environmental Value – Level 3 (the highest level of qualification). They are on a seven-year journey to transition to organic. ‘Growing green’ will protect the environment and produce sustainable wine.
At Bacchus Wines, We’re Not Wine Snobs
We just love good wine! But good wine doesn’t need to be expensive, so we offer excellent, award-winning wine affordable to venues with top markup potential. Our chosen wines must tick all the boxes for us to offer them to UK venues.
This month, we’re highlighting an extraordinary wine, L’Equilibriste Bordeaux Rouge. This Bordeaux red blends Cabernet Franc, which offers aromatic finesse and Merlot for suppleness, fruitiness, and roundness.
L’Equilibriste is a fantastic all-rounder red wine that is perfect for any time, with or without food. Produced without the addition of sulphites, it contains fewer nasties. It is fresh and vibrant with plenty of red berry nuances. The special cuvée magnifies pure and expressive fruit. It is intended to be drunk in its early years and has a beautiful deep purple-red colour. The nose reveals intense aromas of little black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry, blueberry) and notes of peony, violet, and a slight note of liquorice. The attack is round on the palate, with a crunchy and juicy fruit. Mineral and floral flavours continue the tasting on a subtle and silky tannic framework.
